How can a three-day weekend help IGCSE study?

According to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, over 201,000 students are enrolled in Sharjah's private schools, nurseries and training centres. For IGCSE students, Friday to Sunday gives three days to use well.

A focused Friday lesson

Friday afternoon is quieter than a school night. A longer one-to-one lesson can tackle a hard topic, like moles in Cambridge Chemistry 0620, while your child is fresh.

Saturday practice, Sunday review

The tutor sets a past paper question set to try on Saturday. On Sunday, a short lesson marks it against the mark scheme before the school week starts.

Lessons that suit commuting parents

If you work in Dubai, weekday lessons can start before you are home. Weekly notes and missed-class alerts keep you informed, even from the car park.

IGCSE lessons that start before the commute ends

Many families in Al Majaz, Al Khan and Al Nahda, or in Muwaileh, Al Taawun and Aljada, drive to Dubai each day. Your child's lesson can begin while you are still on the E11 or Al Ittihad Road.

Sharjah's British curriculum schools often teach IGCSE through Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, in the Year system. With school out from Friday to Sunday, there is room for a calm, focused session.

Your first fortnight

Setting up weekend IGCSE lessons in Sharjah

Setup is quick. Here is how a Friday, Saturday or Sunday routine comes together, step by step.

Plan a weekend trial
Stage 1 · Message us

Pick your weekend and weekday slots

Drop a WhatsApp message or fill in the form, even mid-commute. Say which board and subjects, and which of Friday, Saturday or Sunday suits you best.

Stage 2 · Next day

A specialist chosen in 24 hours

Within a day you are offered a specialist in your child's exact syllabus, say Edexcel Biology 4BI1, with free space on your chosen days.

Stage 3 · Trial weekend

Try it on the weekend

Your child has a paid trial, priced AED 20 to 60, at a relaxed weekend time. If the tutor does not click with your child, we find a different one free.

Stage 4 · Every week

A steady weekly rhythm

Each lesson is just tutor and student, working on a shared whiteboard, with homework to finish before the next session. Recordings let your child replay hard parts on a quiet Sunday.

Stage 5 · Month end

Updates you can read anywhere

Short notes every week and a report each month arrive on your phone, ready to read after the drive home. Pausing or ending lessons is always your call.

Plan the week

A Sharjah week planned around IGCSE study

With school closed for three days, the week has a natural shape. This simple plan spreads IGCSE work so no single day feels heavy.

Monday to Thursday

Keep weeknights light. One short lesson or homework task in the evening keeps topics fresh without clashing with clubs or late arrivals home from Dubai.

Friday

Use the longer free time for a full lesson on the hardest topic of the week, then a short set of past paper questions.

Saturday and Sunday

Keep one day mostly free for rest. Use the other for review: rewatch the recorded lesson, check homework and prepare questions for the tutor.

IGCSE in brief

What Sharjah families should know about the IGCSE

IGCSE is studied over two years, normally Years 10 and 11, by students aged 14 to 16. Schools in Sharjah choose Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel for each subject, and Oxford AQA also offers the same qualification.

Summer papers start in late April and end in early June. Cambridge also runs October/November resits. Cambridge grades mostly A* to G, whereas Edexcel counts down from 9 to 1. August, mid to late in the month, brings the summer grades.

A good IGCSE result leads on to A-Level or IB study. Our tutors teach to the syllabus code, using past papers your child will recognise.

Sharjah questions

IGCSE questions from Sharjah's weekend and commuter families

Answers on weekend lesson times, fitting tutoring around a Dubai commute, prices and how parents stay in the loop.

Can lessons run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

Yes. You choose the days, and the three-day weekend suits a longer lesson. Slots can shift when a school trip, holiday or exam week gets in the way.

We work in Dubai. How do we stay updated?

Each week your tutor sends short notes, and a monthly report tracks progress. You hear from us straight away when a lesson or a homework task is missed.

Does a parent need to be home during lessons?

No. Lessons are online and one-to-one, so an older student can join alone after school. Every session is recorded, so you can watch part of it later if you wish.

What do weekend IGCSE lessons cost in Sharjah?

Expect from AED 50 an hour. What you pay depends on the tutor and the subject. Trials cost AED 20 to 60. Card or Apple Pay is fine, and nothing locks you in.

Which boards do Sharjah schools use for IGCSE?

Plenty of the British curriculum schools here use Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel. Look on your child's timetable for codes like 0610 or 4CH1, and the tutor we pick will follow that exact syllabus.

How do we balance rest and study at weekends?

Keep one lesson and one short review task across the three days, and leave the rest free. Recordings and flashcards let your child revise in small, easy blocks.
