How our tutors make Chemistry click
Every session is a private video lesson, so the tutor can stop at the exact step where your child gets stuck. Here is what a typical week brings.
How IGCSE Chemistry 0620 and 4CH1 are graded
Most students take IGCSE Chemistry over two years, finishing at about 16. The Cambridge code is 0620, and the Pearson Edexcel code is 4CH1. The course covers atoms, bonding, reactions, metals, acids and organic compounds, and it prepares students for A-Level Chemistry.
Both Cambridge tiers include a practical paper, but Core caps the grade at C while Extended allows A* to G. According to Cambridge, in June 2025, 17.0% of IGCSE Chemistry candidates earned an A* and 82.7% reached grade C or higher.
Marks usually slip away in three places: mole calculations with missing working, ionic and balanced equations, and the practical paper. A one-to-one tutor sees the exact step where your child goes wrong, then fixes it using real past paper questions.
Share of Cambridge Chemistry candidates awarded an A* in the June 2025 series.
Topic areas in Cambridge 0620, from states of matter to chemical analysis.
Marks available across Edexcel Papers 1C and 2C, graded 9 to 1 with no tiers.
Each lesson recorded, reviewed and ready to replay
Your child and the tutor write equations together on a shared whiteboard. Every recording is checked by our academic staff to keep standards high.
- Replay any lesson before a test
- Topic maps, flashcards and written notes
- Lesson quality scored on 20+ measures
Know how each week went, at a glance
Each week the tutor sends short notes on what was covered. Once a month you get a fuller report, and we alert you if a lesson or homework is missed.
- Short notes every week
- A full report each month
- Alerts for missed lessons or homework
Tutor, revision guide or video course?
Some students revise from a guide book, and others follow a recorded video course. The table sets both against live tutoring, looking at checked working, attention to weak topics and practical support.

Twelve topic areas, ordered around your child
Your tutor covers every topic in the 0620 syllabus. Lessons begin where your child struggles most, and the rest is paced to fit the mock calendar.
Four steps to your first Chemistry lesson
Tell us the course and tier
Share the board, Core or Extended, and the Chemistry topics that keep costing your child marks.
Meet your matched chemist
Inside 24 hours we find a Chemistry specialist who teaches 0620 or 4CH1, matching the course your child sits.
Try a paid trial lesson
Use the paid trial to see how the tutor explains a tricky topic, then decide whether to carry on.
Keep going week by week
Lessons each week tackle weak topics and past papers in order. If the fit is wrong, we arrange a free re-match.
What students say about our science tutors
Very pleased with the chemistry, biology & mathematics tutoring my son received… at IGCSE. The instructors were knowledgeable and patient, helping him grasp difficult concepts effectively.
My teachers teach in an excellent way, and aid our concepts with questions which makes me feel prepared for the exam, The revision style and teaching style is catered for our syllabus and we don't miss out anything.
The teachers are result oriented and disciplined. They were able to bring a HUGE difference in grades within a short span of time.
How your tutor prepares each exam paper
Cambridge candidates sit three papers: multiple choice, theory and a practical. Edexcel candidates sit two untiered papers. Each one rewards a different kind of practice, so lessons change to suit.
Forty multiple-choice questions
Speed and accuracy matter here. Your tutor sets timed rounds of past questions and teaches quick checks to rule out wrong answers.
Short answers and calculations
Worth half the grade, this paper mixes equations, explanations and number work. Your tutor sets past questions on each, then grades every answer using the official scheme.
Lab skills, live or on paper
Your tutor coaches tests for ions and gases, titration readings and planning, so your child is ready for the lab test or the paper version.
Paper 1C, the core content
Two hours across all four topic areas, with multiple choice, calculations and longer answers. Full papers under timed conditions help your child keep focus to the end.
Paper 2C, with the bold content
This paper adds the bold statements that go into more depth. Your tutor teaches that extra material and practises it in exam style.
Showing every step of working
Many marks go to method, not just the final answer. Your tutor trains a clear layout for each calculation, so partial credit is never thrown away.
Chemists who teach, chosen with care
We accept fewer than 2 of every 100 people who apply to tutor. Before teaching, each Chemistry tutor is tested in a subject interview, then gives a mock lesson to our team.

IGCSE Chemistry help: what families ask first
Quick answers on tiers, calculations, the practical paper, exam boards and fees.
Why do mole calculations cost so many marks?
Mole questions chain several steps together, so one slip spoils the rest. Your tutor teaches a fixed layout for each type and checks the working, so your child keeps the method marks.
Is the Extended tier right for my child?
On the Extended tier, every grade from A* to G is possible. Core papers cap the result at C. If your child is aiming for C or higher, Extended is the usual route, and your tutor can advise after a mock.
What is the Alternative to Practical paper?
Paper 6 tests lab skills on paper, in one hour, without any equipment. Questions cover readings, tables, graphs and planning. Your tutor practises these with past papers until the routine feels natural.
How does Edexcel 4CH1 differ from Cambridge 0620?
Edexcel sets two untiered papers, graded 9 to 1, and Paper 2 adds deeper bold content. Six of our Chemistry tutors teach both courses, so your child gets someone who knows their exact papers.
Which careers need a strong Chemistry grade?
Medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and chemical engineering courses often ask for A-Level Chemistry. A solid IGCSE grade gives your child the base they need to choose it with confidence.
How much does a Chemistry tutor cost?
Hourly rates start at AED 50 and depend on the tutor. The trial is AED 20 to 60. You can settle fees per lesson or in a bundle, by card or Apple Pay, with nothing locking you in.
Subjects that sit well beside Chemistry
Chemistry students often study Biology, Physics or Maths as well. Choose a chip to meet the tutors for that subject.
