IGCSE Tutors in Oman as Private Schools Grow
Oman's private school sector keeps growing, and many IGCSE classes follow Cambridge. A specialist works with your child live on video, one student at a time, set to Oman time and the Sunday to Thursday school week.

One-to-one IGCSE lessons from Bausher to Madinat Sultan Qaboos
Families in Al Khuwair, Al Ghubra and Qurum, and further out in Al Mouj and Bausher, book the same specialists. Madinat Sultan Qaboos students log in straight after school. Nobody loses an hour in the car.
Cambridge IGCSE leads in Oman's international schools, with Pearson Edexcel in some. Because the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, many students keep one weekday evening and one weekend slot for steady progress.
How is Oman's private school boom shaping IGCSE choices?
According to Oman's education ministry, private and international schools and kindergartens reached 1,223 in 2024/25, teaching 233,000 students. With so many new places, families often want extra help that matches their school's IGCSE board.
New schools, new teachers, the same exam papers
A newer school may still be settling its staff, but your child's exam paper does not change. Our tutor works from the same Cambridge syllabus and past papers, so gaps left by a change of teacher get filled early.
Why Cambridge comes first for most students here
Cambridge leads in many international schools in Oman. Every one of our 63 listed tutors teaches it, from Maths 0580 to Biology 0610. If your school uses Pearson Edexcel instead, we find a matching specialist for that board too.
Does a tutor fit around the Omani week?
Yes. School runs Sunday to Thursday, so lessons can sit on a weekday evening after homework, or on a calm Friday or Saturday morning. You pick the slots and move them around school events.
Fitting IGCSE lessons into a Sunday to Thursday week
School days in Oman run Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday off. These three patterns show how families can spread IGCSE lessons so they help rather than overload.
One lesson on a Monday or Tuesday evening keeps a weak topic moving. The tutor sets short homework, and the recording is there if your child wants to replay a hard step.
A Saturday morning lesson suits longer tasks, like a timed Cambridge paper followed by marking. Friday can stay free for family.
From January of Year 11, you can add a second weekly slot. Lessons then shift to full timed papers, so the May/June series feels routine by the time it starts.
Find an IGCSE specialist for each Cambridge subject
Students in Oman often sit Cambridge papers such as Chemistry 0620 or Economics 0455. Tap any subject to meet the specialists and read how lessons run.

Revision class, past papers or IGCSE tutor: what works?
Many Oman students rely on school revision classes or work through past papers alone. Both help. This table shows where one-to-one online lessons add feedback, flexible timing and a tutor fluent in your child's Cambridge syllabus.

Your first fortnight of IGCSE tutoring, step by step
Families can go from a first message to a regular weekly slot in a few days. Here is how each stage works.
Start with a trial lessonSend us the syllabus code and topics
Reach us by WhatsApp, or type a few lines into our booking form. Give the year group, the board and, if you know it, the code from a past paper, like 0620 for Cambridge Chemistry.
A Cambridge or Edexcel specialist is chosen
We pick someone who already teaches that exact paper and suggest slots in Oman time that avoid clashes with school activities and homework.
Meet the tutor in a paid trial lesson
Expect to pay AED 20 to 60 for the trial, about OMR 2.1 to 6.3. Not convinced after it? We swap tutors at no extra charge.
Lessons built on past paper practice
Your child works through real exam questions on a shared whiteboard. Each lesson is recorded, and notes and flashcards follow, so revision carries on between sessions.
Parents see notes weekly and reports monthly
Short tutor notes land in your inbox weekly, with a longer progress review monthly. A message reaches you if your child skips a session or leaves homework undone.
Cambridge, Edexcel and AQA: how the IGCSE works in Oman
Most students start the IGCSE at 14 and finish at 16, working through Years 10 and 11 over two years. Many international schools in Oman pick Cambridge (CAIE); others use Pearson Edexcel or Oxford AQA.
Grades look different by board. A Cambridge certificate mostly runs from A* to G. On Pearson Edexcel and Oxford AQA certificates, 9 sits at the top and 1 at the bottom. Strong grades lead to A-Level or the IB.
Our tutors start from the code printed on your child's papers, for instance 0625 for Cambridge Physics. They teach with real past paper questions and show how the mark scheme rewards each step.

Answers for Oman parents weighing up IGCSE tutoring
Common questions from parents in Muscat and beyond, from Cambridge codes to the Omani weekend and what lessons cost in rials.
Is Cambridge or Edexcel more common in Oman?
Cambridge IGCSE leads in Oman's international schools, and some teach Pearson Edexcel. Look at the code on a recent past paper, and we will find a tutor for that board.
How much are lessons in Omani rials?
An hour of IGCSE teaching starts at AED 50, which is about OMR 5.2. The first trial lesson is AED 20 to 60. Book lesson by lesson, or take a bundle, and you can cancel whenever you wish.
Can lessons fit around the Friday and Saturday weekend?
Yes. You choose the slots, perhaps a Tuesday evening after school or a Saturday morning. Times are set in Oman time, and you can move them around exams or holidays.
Can a tutor help after changing schools?
Yes. Moving to a new school can mean a new board or missed topics. The tutor checks what was covered before, then fills the gaps so your child catches up with the class.
Will a tutor visit our Muscat home?
No. Every session happens live online, just your child and the tutor sharing a whiteboard. Nobody visits your home, and each lesson is saved as a recording to watch again later.
What if the first tutor is not right?
Just say so, and a different specialist takes over at no cost. Each tutor on our list was interviewed on their subject and taught a mock lesson before joining; fewer than 2 in 100 applicants get through.
