IGCSE Combined Science Tutors three sciences, one plan,
taught live by a matched tutor.
Biology, chemistry and physics in one course can feel like a lot. We match a tutor within 24 hours and build lessons around the weakest topics. Trial lessons cost AED 20 to 60.

What is IGCSE Combined Science (0653)?
IGCSE Combined Science brings biology, chemistry and physics together in a single course, usually taken between ages 14 and 16. Cambridge offers it as syllabus 0653, with 33 topics in three sections. Students study all three sciences and earn one IGCSE grade.
That makes 0653 a single award. Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 is a double award, with more topics, longer papers and two grades from A*A* to GG. The Pearson Edexcel Science Double Award, 4SD0, gives two grades, on the 9 to 1 scale.
According to the June 2025 results from Cambridge, 68.7% of IGCSE Combined Science entries got C or higher, and 22.4% earned an A*. Marks slip when a paper jumps from cells to circuits. Your tutor sets mixed questions until that feels normal.

How lessons cover three sciences without the overload
Lessons are private and live, so the tutor can move between biology, chemistry and physics as your child needs. Here is how the weeks are organised.
Four steps from enquiry to weekly lessons
Tell us the course
Send the syllabus code, Core or Extended, and the science that worries your child most.
Get a tutor in 24 hours
Within 24 hours we confirm a tutor familiar with the exact papers on your exam timetable.
Try a trial lesson
The first lesson costs AED 20 to 60, and there is no commitment to carry on.
Settle into a weekly plan
Lessons rotate through weak topics in each science, and a free re-match is there if you need it.
How tutoring compares with other ways to revise
Students often start with a revision guide or a group class online. Here is how those options compare with one-to-one lessons on weak topics, marked answers and practical paper practice across three sciences.
| Feature | IGCSE Tutors Live, one to one | Revision guide Reading and notes alone | Group online class One teacher, many students |
|---|---|---|---|
| Targets weak spots in each science | Student decides alone | Follows the class pace | |
| Answers marked with the mark scheme | Every lesson | Sometimes | |
| Practice for Paper 5 or Paper 6 | Hard without guidance | Varies by course | |
| Advice on Core or Extended entry | Rarely personal | ||
| Lessons recorded to replay | Varies |
How your tutor prepares each Cambridge 0653 paper
Each Cambridge candidate takes three papers, entered at Core or Extended: multiple choice, theory, then one practical paper. On the Edexcel Double Award route there are three two-hour papers, one per science.
Forty quick science questions
Questions jump between all three sciences. Your tutor runs short timed sets so your child learns to read each option carefully and keep a steady pace.
Short-answer theory
Half of the grade sits here. Your tutor marks structured answers and calculations, pointing out the exact words and units that examiners look for.
Practical test
For schools that run the lab exam. Your tutor rehearses recording results in tables, plotting graphs and spotting sources of error before the day.
Alternative to Practical
This paper tests practical skills on paper instead of in a lab. Your tutor uses past questions to practise planning methods, reading apparatus and evaluating results.
Three untiered papers
Biology, chemistry and physics each get one paper with mixed question styles. Your tutor builds stamina with full timed papers and reviews every lost mark.
Switching between sciences
Moving from enzymes to electricity in one sitting trips many students up. Your tutor mixes topics in practice so each change of science feels routine.
Recorded lessons your child can replay before a test
Teaching takes place on an interactive whiteboard you can both see. Our academic team reviews each recording, so standards stay consistent across biology, chemistry and physics.
- Replay any lesson before a mock
- Flashcards, notes and topic maps
- Lessons scored on 20+ measures
A clear view of progress across three sciences
Every week a short tutor update arrives, and every month a fuller report. If a class or a piece of homework is missed, we tell you straight away.
- Short notes every week
- A full report each month
- Missed class and homework alerts
33 topics across biology, chemistry and physics
The tutor works through all 33 topics in the Cambridge 0653 syllabus, starting with the science that needs most work and keeping the other two fresh.
Science students and parents on their lessons
He is an incredible science tutor and makes lessons engaging and understanding based on how you learn the best. He is very kind and respectful and helped my grade going from a 4 to a 9 (e to A*).
Im comfortable to ask questions to my teachers and they explain me the topics i dont understand at first. They are kind and nice. They help me with school and help me improve things im not the best at.
…I gained valuable exam skills, such time management, from the teachers there. These skills helped me get the results I wanted in my IGCSE. The instructors are both friendly and highly qualified.
Combined Science questions from parents
Quick answers on awards, papers, exam boards, entry rules and fees.
Is Combined Science a single or double award?
Cambridge 0653 is a single award, so it gives one IGCSE grade. Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 and the Edexcel Science Double Award 4SD0 are double awards, worth two IGCSE grades.
Which papers does Core or Extended mean?
On the Core route, students take Papers 1 and 3, with grades C to G open to them. The Extended route uses Papers 2 and 4 and opens A* to G. Both routes add Paper 5 or Paper 6.
Can my child take Combined Science with Biology?
Not in the same exam series. Cambridge does not allow 0653 alongside Biology 0610, Chemistry 0620, Physics 0625 or Co-ordinated Sciences 0654. Check the school's entry plan early.
How is the Edexcel Double Award assessed?
Students sit three untiered papers, one each for biology, chemistry and physics. Each lasts 2 hours and carries 110 marks. Grades run from 9 9 at the top down to 1 1.
Can my child study A-Level sciences afterwards?
Entry rules differ between schools and colleges, so ask the sixth form what grade it wants. Extended content and a strong grade give your child a firmer base for A-Level study.
What do Combined Science lessons cost?
Prices begin at AED 50 per hour and vary by tutor, and a trial is AED 20 to 60. Families can pay for each lesson separately or choose a package, and can stop whenever they like.
Separate sciences and other subjects we teach
Weighing up the separate sciences, or want support in maths as well? Each chip opens that subject’s page.
Let's plan your child's science lessons
Send the syllabus code and the topics that worry your child. A matched tutor follows within 24 hours, and a trial fee of AED 20 to 60 covers the first lesson.
