Our approach

What your child gets from each Economics lesson

Because every lesson is live with one tutor and one student, mistakes get caught as they happen. Here is what your child can expect each week.

Matched to 0455, 0987 or 4EC1

Your child gets an Economics tutor for their own syllabus code, matched within 24 hours. If the pairing still feels wrong once lessons begin, we change tutor through a free re-match.

Diagrams drawn until they stick

Demand and supply, PPC and cost diagrams need correct labels and shifts. Your child draws them live on the shared whiteboard, and the tutor corrects each one.

Data response, line by line

The compulsory data question gives unseen information about a real economy. Your tutor shows how to pull figures from tables and quote the extract, so answers use the evidence.

Two sides, then a judgement

Discuss questions reward a balanced argument. Each practice answer is checked against past mark schemes, and your child learns to build both sides before reaching a reasoned conclusion.

Key terms kept close

Each lesson is saved as a recording. Notes and flashcards follow too, so terms such as opportunity cost and PED are fresh before a test.

Weekly updates, no lock-in

Lessons fit around school, sport and family time in your own time zone. Parents receive brief weekly notes plus a monthly report, and nobody is locked in.

IGCSE Economics 0455: papers, grades and 2027 changes

IGCSE Economics is usually studied over two years, from age 14 to 16. Cambridge runs it as 0455, graded A* to G, or as 0987, graded 9 to 1. Pearson Edexcel runs 4EC1. Many GCC families choose it before A-Level Economics.

According to the cumulative grade tables Cambridge released for June 2025, 17.8% of IGCSE Economics students earned an A*, while 77.6% gained at least a C. From 2027, Paper 1 grows to 40 questions and Paper 2 falls to 80 marks.

Most students learn the definitions well. Marks slip when a demand and supply diagram is unlabelled, when the extract is ignored, or when a discuss answer gives only one side. One-to-one lessons fix each habit using real past paper questions.

17.8%

Share of Cambridge IGCSE Economics entries graded A* in the June 2025 series.

77.6%

Proportion of Cambridge Economics entries at grade C or better in June 2025.

40

Multiple-choice questions in Cambridge Paper 1 from 2027, up from 30 in 2026.

Papers and preparation

Two papers per board, and a method for each

From 2027, Cambridge 0455 students sit a one-hour multiple-choice paper and a two-hour structured paper. Edexcel 4EC1 students sit two papers of 90 minutes. Each needs its own preparation.

Paper 1

Multiple choice

Forty questions cover the whole syllabus, some with calculations or diagrams. Your tutor runs timed sets, then explains why each wrong option fails against the theory.

1 hour · 40 marks30% · Cambridge
Paper 2

Structured questions and data

Section A is one compulsory 20-mark question on unseen data about a real economy. Your tutor practises reading the extract and using its figures in every answer.

Paper 2, Section B

Discuss questions

Students answer three of four 20-mark questions. Part (d) needs a reasoned discussion of two sides, so your tutor marks these answers against past mark schemes.

Diagrams that earn the marks

Your child draws and explains a diagram most lessons, with labelled axes, curves and shifts, until it becomes a habit under exam time.

Live tutor, recorded course or extra classes?

Recorded courses and extra school classes both help with content. This table compares them with a live tutor on diagram feedback, discuss answers and practice with unseen data, where most Economics marks are won.

Common questions on IGCSE Economics lessons

Quick answers on the 2027 changes, diagrams, discuss questions, exam boards and fees.

Is the Cambridge Economics exam changing in 2027?

The code stays 0455, but the papers change. Paper 1 becomes 1 hour with 40 questions, up from 45 minutes and 30. Paper 2 becomes 2 hours and 80 marks, down from 2 hours 15 minutes and 90.

Why are diagram marks so easy to lose?

Common slips are missing axis labels, unlabelled curves or a shift drawn the wrong way. Your tutor sets diagram questions every week and checks each label, so drawing them becomes routine before the exam.

How are the discuss questions marked?

In Cambridge Paper 2, part (d) questions are marked using levels of response. Students need clear analysis and a reasoned discussion of both sides. Your tutor shows how to plan this in a few minutes.

Do you teach Edexcel 4EC1 as well?

Yes. Three of our listed Economics tutors teach Edexcel 4EC1. It has two papers, each 1 hour 30 minutes and 80 marks, worth 50% each, and it is graded 9 to 1.

How does 0987 differ from 0455?

Both use the same two papers for 2027 to 2029. Only the grading differs: 0455 runs from A* to G, and 0987 from 9 to 1. Not every region offers 0987, so ask your school.

What does an hour of Economics tutoring cost?

Prices vary with the tutor, beginning at AED 50 per hour for IGCSE work. Expect AED 20 to 60 for the trial. Choose one-off lessons or a package; you are never tied to a contract.
